On the wall
eveybody now has a tablet. I give moses the credit because he got 2 from igod long after eve eat the apple, and before the apple hit issac on the head and steve gods (was j) made the apple and i format more popular than john Lennon. Well I2 had a tablet before i came here. Not quite electronic but you could add and paste things to it and it contained a lot of stuff and it ended up on my wall (not in facebook, yet but in the kitchen)
then i get here(with and unexpected stop off in Saigon (Ho Chi Ho CHi) and lo and behold there is stuff on the wall here (see below) Just as well I didnt bring the MK47 my son gave me for christmas (no that was a crash helmet for new adventures on motor cycle over here.
(notice wont upload at mo)
Anyway last nght after beer and food with some of my new colleagues i gladly hit the bed about midnight and fell to sleep immediately. This is not surprising as i had had no sleep in the best part of the two days including the flight.
Di I tell you that Phnom Pen is hot and humid. Sticky wet shirt, socks etc.
3-30 Wake up and cant get back to sleep. The fan was cold and noisy and insistent on my
now suggestible and frail brain. Ttried turning it off. 5 min was enough of that with "de swet" pouring out of me. Tried a non moving fan, no better. etc etc couldnt get back to sleep.
Check my email on the dodgy wifi and get mail from home telling me of our car being bricked and a certain person's possessions being taken ( sure haven't i being always telling her).
Then Skype home on a still dodgy breaking up wifi but succeed a bit.
Back to the silent hot room. How the brain plays up when the fairy godmother sleep rejects one.
What am i doing in this small pokey sweat box. If I was home i could get up and make tea and what the hell am i doing in this country Bla bla bla
Today met the rest of the crew. We come from Canada, Philipines, Indonesia, India, Britian, Kenya and of course the centre of the universe, Ireland.
Yes today so far , inspite of insomnia is holiday mode. Leisurely breaffast in cafe down street. Most of us went for french toast and good it was. Later a bit of shopping in a western supermarket with western prices. A decent cup of coffee followed by lunch in a traditional kymer cafe. Shoes off, low table and good grub with lots of veg.
Anyone still here.
THe final day of the kings burial ceremony was on today and such a colourful funeral courtage ( on TV over lunch)
We all then got a tuk tuks and headed to the river front of the mighty Mekong. And before we knew it someone had discovered an ice cream parlour with great modern style and apparently ice cream made with filtered water...well what could a group of VSOs do
Holpefully Mekong loads
No Luck Oh well a volunteers's life is full of frustrations and bad grammer
