THE BEST THING YET
7 hours ahead means I’m often asleep when
people at home are free in the evenings. Rising time here is about 6 am with a
work start of 7-30 am (not that the locals do a lot of work in the public
(ahem) service...usually have some other activity like a restaurant or
tourism).
Last night having gone to bed about 9-30 pm
I awoke at 1 am ( not an unusual occurance for moi) and couldn’t get back to the
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzz zone. Anyway there was home news I was anxious about so I
skyped home.
Skyping is a hit and miss game from here as
the quality of the signal can vary greatly. So last night when I skyped (6 pm
Irish time) I got through to a very excited daughter (Sophie) whom I could hear
but it was one way traffic as she couldn’t hear me.
Anyway it was her news I wanted to hear and
she had just been informed she was accepted on the clinical psychology
doctorate in Trinity. To get onto one of these doctorates (OK there is no need
to be thinking thoughts such as ït’s obvious why she wanted to do psy with a
dad like moi.......you can see she was already thinking about it from and early age) is difficult and can take a few years of trying but it was all
she ever wanted and after 2 years , or is it 3, of trying she has got what she
wanted and where she wanted it.
Have to say I’m a very proud dad today and
that her/our prayers have been answered. Use it well my lovely darling
daughter.
Needless to say, in true Irish fashion, she
took off to a drinking spot for a celebratory vino and broadcast to her many
admirers on facebook. So here is the photo that greeted me this morning when I
checked in to see what she was up to. (and who is the young one on the right of
the photo)
Yeah, brilliant news! A good lesson in perseverence and following your dream :-)
ReplyDeleteWell now.......I cease to be shocked at where you seem to end up!
